Overview:

Students will learn how to create a new project file, create and modify task lists, create a Work Breakdown Structure, and work with task relationships. They’ll also learn how to create a base calendar, assign resources to tasks, create task calendars, and create and modify tables. Students will use filters and groups, and they’ll sort task and resource data. They will learn how to resolve resource conflicts.


Pre-requisite(s): Project Management Fundamentals


At Course Completion:

Students will create a project plan file containing tasks, organize these tasks in a work breakdown structure containing task relationships, create and assign resources, and finalize the project to implement the project plan.

Lesson 4: Managing resources

  • Creating base calendars
  • Working with resources and calendars
  • Working with resource costs

Lesson 5: Working with views and tables

  • Working with views
  • Working with tables

Lesson 6: Filtering, grouping, and sorting

  • Working with filters
  • Working with groups
  • Sorting tasks and resources

Lesson 7: Finalizing the task plan

  • Finalizing schedules
  • Resolving resource conflicts

Lesson 8: Hands-on Activity – Building your own Project Schedule

Students are encouraged to bring in their own work projects. They will then implement the concepts learned in class to create a Project Schedule including task dependencies, resource tables, calendars and more.
